今治城 — Imabari Castle

DSC_0339

Known as one of three “Castles on the Sea,” Imabari Castle has a salt-water moat. It looked pretty impressive as we walked up to it; the original walls, turrets, and the humongous moat gave off a sense of strength and general un-touchable-ness.

The castle itself is a reconstruction. As such, the inside is all museums and exhibits.  You have to take your shoes off at the front, but I’m not sure why haha. Usually that is saved for the 12 intact castles which have original flooring. There are quite a few suits of samurai armor, but all of the information is, you guessed it, in Japanese.

The view from the top was nice; you can see all of Imabari City!

Not the most spectacular castle ever, but nice to visit if you have time!
