I’ve had this dish twice, once at a ryokan and once more at the same place I got delicious yakitori! It may seem weird or even gross, especially to Americans since we NEVER eat raw egg, but it’s actually very good!

The one from the yakitori restuarant came with the egg in a separate dish, a small thing of soy sauce, and a hot stone bowl filled with rice with some green onions on top. You put it all in the stone bowl, mix it up…

and it looks like this!

The heat from the bowl actually cooks the egg, so the more you mix, the less raw egg there is! Yummy!
