Ever find yourself at a Japanese restaurant not knowing what to order? Never fear, katsudon is here!!! This wonderful food can be found at most Japanese restaurants in the US and in many in Japan as well. It’s a simple dish that includes rice, egg, and a fried pork cutlet; onions and other vegetables are usually added as well. The pork is cut into strips and the rice is soft and sticky — definitely one of my comfort foods!
The picture I have of katsudon is from an onsen close-ish to my house that has GREAT food. It was also served with miso soup, some kind of pickled vegetables, and another side item. I’ve attempted to make it before, with reasonable success. If I try it again, I’ll make sure to share a picture!
